On November 30, 2011, an x-ray surgery unit was created for the first time in the Ternopil region on the basis of TMCL No. 2, where on December 27, 2011, the first endovascular operation was successfully performed in Ternopil.
Since that time, the team of young surgeons, cardiologists, and radiologists has shown excellent results of their activities, which encouraged further expansion and improvement of their professional skills. And, as a result, on August 18, 2015, a 16-bed cardiovascular and endovascular surgery department was created. The team is headed by a graduate of I.Ya. Gorbachevsky TDMU, a surgeon of the highest category, a regional freelance cardiac surgeon, Lugovoi O.B.
More than 8,000 patients received qualified medical care during 9 years of operation. Operative interventions are carried out in almost all vascular basins. In particular, balloon angioplasty and stenting of coronary arteries - about 600 operations annually, about 50 endovascular operations on carotid arteries, more than 10 on renal and lower extremity arteries, about 200, and more than 80 operations were performed for pulmonary embolism (stage filter coffee). X-ray endovacular embolization of uterine arteries - more than 150 operations per year. In addition, about 200 operations per year are performed for varicose veins of the lower extremities using the method of endovenous laser coagulation and sclerotherapy, radiofrequency ablation.
On February 23, 2018, for the first time in the Ternopil region, an open-heart operation with artificial blood circulation was successfully performed on the basis of the department, since then such operations, namely: aorto-coronary bypass surgery, aortic, mitral and tricuspid valve prosthetics, atrial and ventricular septal plastic surgery.
The staff of the department works daily to improve their knowledge, practical skills and abilities, attends scientific conferences both in Ukraine and abroad, follows new methods in the treatment of patients and actively implements them in their practice.
